Purpose

The purpose of a Cold Heading Machinist is to efficiently produce high-quality fasteners and components using cold heading machines. The machinist's role is critical in ensuring the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of cold heading equipment to meet production goals while maintaining strict quality standards.

Objectives

• Ensure Efficient Machine Setup: The primary objective is to set up cold heading machines accurately and efficiently according to production schedules and specifications. This includes loading raw materials, adjusting machine settings, and verifying alignment to achieve optimal production conditions.
• Operate Machinery Safely and Effectively: Safely operate cold heading machines during production runs, following established procedures and safety protocols. Monitor machine performance, make adjustments as necessary, and troubleshoot any issues to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
• Produce High-Quality Parts: Maintain a focus on quality throughout the production process by consistently inspecting finished parts for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and other quality criteria. Implement quality control measures to ensure compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
• Optimize Production Efficiency: Continuously seek opportunities to improve production efficiency and reduce waste by optimizing machine settings, tooling, and workflow processes. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to identify and implement process improvements that enhance productivity without sacrificing quality.
• Contribute to Team Success: Work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment to achieve production targets and meet customer demand. Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, sharing insights, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating tasks to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintain Equipment and Workspace: Perform routine maintenance tasks on cold heading machines to keep them in optimal working condition. Clean and organize work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment for yourself and others.
• Continuously Develop Skills and Knowledge: Stay updated on industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices related to cold heading processes and equipment. Pursue opportunities for training and professional development to enhance skills and expertise in the field.
